Group Camp Outs
Camp out under the stars and wake to the sounds of the animals. The Henson Robinson Zoo offers a variety of group camping experiences right inside the zoo gates. From family camp outs to scout outings, the zoo offers camp outs for just about everyone.

Scout Camp Outs

Bring your Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts for an overnight adventure and accomplish the goals of a badge while you’re here!

All scout camp outs include badge related activities, an evening tour, dinner and breakfast. Bring your own tents and sleeping bags.

Choose from these badge goals:

Boy Scout:

Naturalists Badge – This evening will focus on the different components necessary for a scout’s naturalists badge. Some of the topics covered include tracks, bird flyways, classification, food webs, and learning our local venomous species. The topics will be covered through the use of games, lecture, and crafts.

FrogWatch Adventure – This evening will focus on work with our local frog species. Through a variety of tasks and activities scouts will learn to recognize our local frogs by vocalizing and will participate in data collection, and submitting their results to a national data base.

Girl Scouts:

Wildlife Badge – During this campout the scouts will learn about a variety of topics through the use of handouts, games, and crafts. Some of the topics that will be covered include classification, nature drawing, adaptation by animal, and learning to use binoculars

Plant and Animal Adventure – Learn all about plants and animals in this fun filled campout. During the evening we will learn to be animal trainers, go on safari, and make fun plant crafts.

Scout camp out cost is $20 per scout, $15 per adult and $10 per sibling.
